Advanced Cold Climate Workshop THIS WEEKEND!

ATTN all Home Inspectors, Contractors, Planners & Homeowners:

ACHP will be hosting a FREE Advanced Cold Climate Home Building Techniques Course on Friday & Saturday (November 20 & 21) from 8-5pm.

This two-day intensive workshop presents energy-efficient building techniques for Home Inspectors, Builders, Designers, Planners and Homeowners. Participants are taught the latest energy efficient construction techniques.

This workshop has been approved for 16-hours of Continuing Education Credits for home inspectors and residential contractors.

This is ALSO the course required to obtain a Residential Contractor Endorsement from the State of Alaska.

How To Use This Blog

This blog is intended to generate a discussion about energy efficiency in residential retrofit applications. Feel free to leave comments, questions, and poignant thoughts about energy efficiency. If you leave a question an expert will respond with his/her thoughts.

If you are new to blogging follow the procedure outlined below and you will be blogging in no time.

1. Find a discussion of interest to you; click on the bold red title text.

2. A white template will appear below the phrase "Post a Comment".

3. Type your comment, question, or poignant thought into the text box.

4. When finished, select a profile you wish to post as (in the box directly to the right of "Comment As")...you can choose any of the options in the text box. If you are unclear or indifferent about selecting a profile, simply select anonymous, but be sure to select one of the options, as your comments will not post without it.

5. Click the "Post a Comment" button to upload your comment(s).

6. Finally, a yellow box indicating that your post was successful will appear.

7. Use the back button to proceed to the main menu and comment on other discussions.

ACHP Goes to Juneau

Alaska Craftsman Home Program is pleased to present a two day consumer education course in Juneau on November 12 and 13. This 2 day course compiles all of the elements of ACHP's eight energy efficiency workshops. Material covered will include:
  • Day 1
  • Building Science Basics (8-10 am)
  • Air Tightness (10am-12pm)
  • Ice Dams (1-3 pm)
  • Lighting and Appliances (3-5pm)

  • Day 2
  • Heating and Hot Water (8-10am),
  • Doors and Windows (10am-12pm)
  • Insulation (1-3pm)
  • Ventilation (3-5 pm)
